User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 I have 2 mail accounts and use "Inbox for different account". When I get mail, the mail is download from the account that use a different account's inbox and not left on the server. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. setup 2 mail accounts (A and B) with the option "leave messages on server" 2. change account B to use account A's inbox with option "inbox for different account" and chose account A, use the option "include the server when getting new mail" 3. check mail Actual Results: I get the mail from account A and it is left on the server, but mail from account B is downloaded and deleted from server on account B. Expected Results: I would like it to work the same way as if I use the 2 accounts with the normal setup, so that it is left on the server.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. Confirmed confirmed confirmed! CRITICAL! CRITICAL! CRITICAL! forget layout and filters issues for a monent and PLEAS Efix this basic email client issue!! Also when leave messages on server for x days is checked thunderbird never deletes the messages on server after the speicied days have passed. some thing is reall y wornfg int he code thuunderbird uses to track what has been downloaded from the server and when! This is part of a series of CRITICAL BROKEN primary functionality issues associated with "leave messages on server" Ability to leave messages onthe server is a critical primary function of any email client and must be addressed. unfortunately for most people they only realize there is a problem after there inbox on their server is filled up months later. Please prioritize this!

Same problem here. Have multiple pop accounts going into common inbox. For some of them, mail is not left on server, for some it is (TB 2 build 20070326).

Confirming based on multiple reports. Not blocking a stability release. While it sounds like a good bug to fix and we'd take a patch in a branch release (approval flag on the patch attachment), the fact that we've suffered with it for this long demonstrates that we won't actually hold a release for this. Over to the TBird team.

works for me when i use the steps to reproduce from this bug and my 2 yahoo testaccounts on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070326 Thunderbird/2.0.0.0 ID:2007032620 The Mails are marked as read, so you get maybe a information about 0 unread new messages when you logon over the web interface, but the messages are still in my yahoo Mailbox and no mail is lost or deleted from server.

I can confirm the problem exists. Using gmail as well. Once TB receive has run, message is no longer in the gmail web interface, additional Outlook installation doesn't receive it either. In my case, the issue started when I've moved to new laptop and migrated my TB folder. Working on old, no longer working on new. Wondering if there is any logging to check?

Wayne, cannot confirm running version 2.0.0.5 (20070716). What is happening now is that both clients (outlook and tb, set to leave mail on server) only see the gmail mail when they're the first one to receive it. Beginning to question my sanity and/or suspecting a gmail issue. Thanks, Andreas

Michael, you haven't commented. Are you using the gmail "recent mode" noted at http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=47948 ? developer commented on irc "if it's all gmail, that's just the way gmail works"

Yes, I use recent mode (leave mail on server) and it is not only gmail accounts, it is also a problem with mail from another provider. I use Thunderbild from the same client (not from other computers). Hope this helps !!!
