Try using safe mode, this is likely due to a bad extension. Once in safe mode, you can uninstall the extension. Instructions: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode_%28Firefox%29

*** Bug 297847 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I've tried to run Safe Mode but it doesn't work, I see that Firefox starts because it's on the Tasks Manager but no window shows up. On the other hand I haven't added any extension today so how can I know which one is messing up? Thank you,
Maybe related to bug 293636?
bug 293636? Yes, it shows the same message but I haven't installed Thunderbird lately, Firefox 1.0.4 was installed AFTER Thunderbird 1.0.2 (and Thunderbird works OK). And both programs were always downloaded from Mozilla. On the other hand Firefox and Thunderbird were installed above older versions, I don't know if that's important.

You should probably try and uninstall/reinstall Firefox and see if the problem is fixed.

manuelgvr@yahoo.com.mx - please try reinstalling firefox. If that doesnt work try creating a new profile as outlined here: http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile Please post back to this bug your findings.
Get real! I can't wait a month to solve a problem. Of course that I unistalled FF and installed it again long time ago. BTW it works. I can solve my problem without Bugzilla but the real issue here is, can you solve the bug? Do you REALLY know what went wrong? Looking at Bug 293636 I wouldn't say it. I thought that Bugzilla Bug was to help FF to not have the same problem again.

I have had the same problem. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox 3 times. The most recent time I was actually using Firefox, edited some pictures on Photoshop, closed it, then tried to reopen Firefox and then I got the message, so I didn't do anything on the browser at all, it just failed to load from that point forward. This has only been happening for the past 2-3 weeks (since I updated), but I have not added any extensions at all.

Without detailed information on the problematic part of the profile or Firefox installation, there's not much we can do here. Is anyone who sees this willing to go through their profile, one file at a time and determine what the problem is? If not, this bug should be resolved as INVALID since it's probably not Firefox causing it, but rather some change an extension is making.
