Details

When you hide the side bar via choosing View | Sidebar, it become un-selected
and disappears. However if you now click search, the sidebar will re-appear
leaving the menu indication un-selected. The logic on the menu will now remain
inverse: When the sidebar is visible it will show it as un-selected on the menu
and when it is hidden, it will be shown as selected on the menu.
Under what circumstances does your sidebar open up when you have it closed via
view sidebar? If I click on the search button with sidebar completely closed, it
doesn't open for me. Can you maybe try on a new profile?

I think your right, after resetting my profile I cannont replicate the issue.
