The documentation explains how to UN-install extensions but skips right over how
to install them. I know this seems intuitive but for the ever-growing base of
novice users this basic step should be covered. I suggest adding the following
to the documentation:

How do I install Extensions?

Select Tools > Extensions. At the bottom of the extensions window you'll see a
link, "Get More Extensions," click it. Firefox will then open a new window where
you can choose from a variety of extensions. Find the extension you want to
install and click the "Install" link. As long as you have javascript enabled
clicking the link should install the extension.

An alternative is to download the .xpi file to your desktop. You can then drag
the file into the Extensions window (Tools > Extensions).

After installing the extension you will need to restart Firefox to enable the
extension.
