I have this problem still and its really bugging me ... I had 2700 mails after the sober.y-attack, then I tryed to download them with an direct connect to the internet via an ISDN-Adapter. Now I have 1800 still staying and I cant download them with any way. My provider says that the problem istn on his side. Im really helpless ... allways geting an alert: Connection to server xyz time out. I set the conection time-out to 120s - but it doesnt work. My provider says he have an qpoper (sorry, but I dont know what a setting this is) from 120s ... no more idea what I can do else deleting mail by mail via the webmail-interface. Help are really welcome.
