Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1

I click on the little icon that shows that theres and update available. After a
minute of searching, it finds the critical software update, so I select it and
click install, but it never gains progress. I have a cable modem, so it should
be very fast like everything else i download or update. I want to know the
cause of this malfunction.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.I click the update icon
2.It shows me the software update
3.It will not gain progress on the update

Actual Results:
It stayed on the updating page without any progress at all.

Expected Results:
It should have downloaded the update.
If you're using 1.0.1 it should have been telling you about critical updates for
several months now. Clearly something is broken, and folks of the user support
groups (http://www.mozilla.org/support/#community) might be able to ask enough
questions to put together the puzzle, but it's probably far simpler to just go
to http://getfirefox.com and download the latest.

Clearing the confidential flag. Inability to get a security update is obviously
a security-related issue, but this is not an exploit that we need to keep hidden
from the black hats.

Go to "Tools -> Options -> Web Features" and enable "Allow web
sites to install software", then try again.
