User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 When I click on extentions in the tool bar it won't open. I've manually gone to the extension page and tried to download from there but they won't start. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.click on tools 2.click on extensions 3. Actual Results: nothing happens. it won't open Expected Results: should have opened the extension window to let me either add or delete extensions
Does it open if you start firefox in safe mode: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
I had same problem and I could open the Extension window in Safe mode. Therefore, I disabled a few extensions that I thought may be causing the problem and the problem did go away. Then, I reenabled them one at a time. The problem reappeared when I reenabled the "Extension Manager Buttons". (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050620 Firefox/1.0+)
How do you disable an extension if the window won't open? Thanks for your reply.
Open firefox in safe mode: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode This disables the extensions and you should then be able to open the window and then disable the extension that is causing the problem when you start firefox normanly.
(In reply to comment #4) > Open firefox in safe mode: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode > > This disables the extensions and you should then be able to open the window and > then disable the extension that is causing the problem when you start firefox > normanly. I tried to run Firefox in Safe Mode using both the methods in the link above (Start Menu, Run) and both times, it ran the regular application with extensions i.e. not in the Safe Mode. Is there anything that can be done?
You need to check that no firefox.exe processes are running before trying to start safe mode, do this by checking for firefox.exe in the windows task manager
I always saved my profile on my other drive and luckily when I installed it over the old one the problem went away. I tried everything to get the extension window to work but this was the only thing that did for me. When the same thing happened on my other drive, my only solution was to reinstall firefox.
