this is the third time it's happened to me so far. while looking for drivers,
i'd log in and then start a search. the next page that comes up should be a
little progress bar indicationg that it's going through the database, but i just
get a whole lot of chinese or japanese characters(i don't know the diference and
it could be anything). i then went to mozilla's site and looked around and found
a newer version(1.0.3), downloaded it and installed. it worked fine for about a
month and now it's doing it again. i've taken a screenshot of what was going on,
so if you want, i can email it(get me on forest@easypos.co.za). if you look at
the page source, then you get this:

਍格浴㹬਍格慥㹤琼瑩敬㰾琯瑩敬ാ㰊敭慴栠瑴⵰煥極㵶刢晥敲桳•潣瑮湥㵴ㄢ※剕㵌椯摮硥瀮

but only a lot more and it's all on one line. i'm not quite sure what it means,
but i don't think it's good. :) i don't like internet explorer that much, so i
don't want to use it. i'm also using a mozilla that has been translated into
afrikaans.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
normal browsing of driverguide.com
Actual Results:
i got chinese or japanese characters(no pictures)

Expected Results:
display normal letters and pictures.
most probably a problem with the server sending the wrong character encoding
gee what a disaster site to create an acount....

Wfm though. Starting from http://members.driverguide.com/index.php, what links
do you follow, so i can retrace your steps?
it seems to happen only once every now and again(very infrequent). all i did,
was go to www.driverguide.com. clicked on "member login"
(http://members.driverguide.com/ums/index.php?action=l). typed in my username
and password and then hit enter. clicked on "basic" search
(http://members.driverguide.com/index.php?action=search&sm=b), typed in
"rtl8139c" in the keywords textbox and selected "windows 98" as the os. the
attached picture is what i got. clicked back and retyped "rtl..." and clicked on
"search database", but it kept on showing the same stuff.

another thing that happened once, was going to www.ecr.co.za and all that
displayed was the page's source. i don't know where the error was there, but i'm
thinking it was with the site, as they were having some trouble throughout last
week.

(maybe that was related?)

Thank you for the detailed instructions :)

On my XP PRO SP2 machine with trunk build from early June 2005 i get taken to
http://members.driverguide.com/index.php?action=dosearch&qm0=rtl8139c&qa7=1399&dp=3&sm=b&jmd=and&fzz=d
which works as expected. I'm sorry i can't reproduce your problem.

Do you have any non-standard setting for HTTP pipelining, any extensions
installed? Can you try with a recent "Deer Park" nightly?
