The Read Mail function is not operational. Suggest that it should just open the
default email program. The New Message does work correctly, but you can't go
from there to just checking your email.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click Mail Icon on Toolbar.
2.Mail Icon opens drop down menu including both Read Mail and New Message.
3.Read Mail doesn't open Mail program or give correct number of new messages.
New Message Icon works OK.
Works with Thunderbird as default mail program, but not with IncrediMail as default.

It does not work for me as well Is there a solution to this?

I also can confirm this hasn't worked for me for a few weeks. Tools/New message works fine but Tools/Read Mail seems to have no function now.

Yep, the random incomprehensible brokenness was one of the reasons the whole feature was removed.

Do not just silently reopen bugs without any reason. This feature is gone, so there is no point in a bug about how it works any more.
