Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: 1.0.2 (20050317) I make extensive use of Thunderbird's offline folders feature 'cos I do most of my mail reading on a train. Of late, I've been having problems where not all messages are getting downloaded for no apparent reason Sad I'll click on a message and get the usual kiss of death message about the message not being available. Really annoyingly, sometimes, although less frequently of late, I CAN view the message by switching Thunderbird to "online" mode, even when I have NO internet connection. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click offline button in bottom left of window 2.wait for all mail to download and offline button to change to its "offline" state 3. Try and view a message that was downloaded for offline use, either in the inbox, or another IMAP folder Actual Results: The kiss of death message: """ The body of this message has not been downloaded from the server for reading offline. To read this message, you must reconnect to the network, choose Offline from the File menu and then select Work Online. In the future, you can select which messages or folders to read offline. To do this, choose Offline from the file menu and then select Synchronize. You can adjust the Disk Space preference to prevent the downloading of large messages. """ Expected Results: I should have been shown the message tha twas downloaded for offline use ;-) Really annoyingly, sometimes, although less frequently of late, I CAN view the message by switching Thunderbird to "online" mode, even when I have NO internet connection. However, even this doesn't work sometimes :-( I was tempted to put this as "Critical" because it's almost data loss until I can get online again, but resisted the temptation, even though it's so damn frustrating :-(

Sounds like the bug I reported in #297776. I've had to switch back to Mozilla 1.7.8 for email until this gets fixed.

I tried this, and had the same problem :-( the problem is that the offline flag isn't getting set on the messages.

it looks to me like we're not writing out the envelope line anymore, between offline messages. Or the x-mozilla-status lines, which means we're not getting into nsMsgDBFolder::WriteStartOfNewLocalMessage

Yes I am. Why? Does this have an impact? I'll try uninstalling it now...

...uninstalling GDS seems to have made a positive difference, I'll know more once I've road tested it on this morning's train journey...
