since some days (1-2 weeks IMHO) I can't change the header view to "normal".
Or: The settings is at normal but I always get all headers displayed.

For me it works. (TB 1.0+ 2005-06-21)

But maybe it's another problem. I couldn't change the setting "show only display
name for people in my address book". Tb always show me the mail address. 

Maybe TB sometimes ignore the pref.js settings ?!?

Wolfgang, do you have any extensions installed?
Does the problem persist if you start up TB in safe mode?

I have enigmail installed.
I've tried to start TB with -safe-mode but still the same behaviour.
(Even the enigmail menu is still here. I'm not sure if -safe-mode worked at all)

without any extension and with a new profile it doesn't happen.

I had the same effect with Thunderbird 1.1 Alpha 2 and an old Enigmail version.
After I installed the new Enigmail version (enigmail-0.92.0-tb1.1a2-win32.xpi)
from http://enigmail.mozdev.org/unstable.html, I could set View/Headers to
Normal and the bug was gone.
