Creating a symbolic link to lib 6 results in many incompatibilities. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run Thunderbird 2. 3. Actual Results: /home/jodak/tmp/thunderbird: ./thunderbird ./thunderbird-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory /home/jodak/tmp/thunderbird: Expected Results: Should run.
Installed Thunderbird 1.0.2 under Fedora Core 4 (Via YUM). (2.6.11-1.i686-SMP_FC4). Wasn't able to reproduce the bug. a quick yum provides search gave me. compat-libstdc++-33.i386. Try installing this via YUM. see if you still have issues.
