User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; YPC 3.0.3; AskBar 3.00; SV1; iebar; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Build Identifier: Firefox 1.04 My Firefox 1.04 browser was working perfectly, until the automatic update icon showed up. I clicked on it, assumably downloaded the update, and I haven't been able to use my browser since. It would go to the website I selected, nothing would come up and it would say that site could not be found. I have uninstalled it completely (done a search to make sure there were NO more files anywhere in my system), reinstalled it, with no luck. It seems to be running in the background much of the time (even though my system says it's gone. I've even deleted them from my registry). The cursor shows busy, then goes back to regular arrow, but no browser window comes up. Now I can't get IE to be my default browser either. Although I have that option checked, the only way it works is if I cut and paste all email links. I have also tried to download another browser, and got the exact same results. It won't work, show up, or find any websites. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Uninstall browser 2.Reinstall browser 3.Try and bring up a website Actual Results: I got the error that the website could not be found and the page was blank. Expected Results: Brought up the website I was trying to access.

Have you checked that your firewall is allowing Firefox to access the internet?

That's usually caused by a firewall (changed firefox.exe). This works for everyone else and bugzilla is not for support -> wfm Please ask in the mozillazine.org Forums if you have enduser questions.

I don't know how this usually works, because I've never filed a bug report before. But, I was on the website (following the link sent to me in an email) and I saw your question about me checking my firewall. My firefox browser was working just fine for months UNTIL I clicked the automatic update button. Then it stopped. If my firewall was the problem, would the firefox have worked in the first place? BEFORE the update? I'm not trying to get support, I'm trying to figure out why my browser stopped working after I tried to update it, because I got the automatic update icon. I've never had something like this happen before and CANNOT contact anyone else at Mozilla to have asked the question. I PRESUMED it must be a bug, because BEFORE I updated, the browser was working just fine - wonderful at that! I don't even know if I'm doing any of this stuff correctly. I followed the link I got in an email to the page saying my problem had been "resolved", then saw your comment and one other. I don't even know how to READ the page where I saw these comments, so I still don't know what anything means. I can't find a contact email or phone number to ask anyone either. I really liked the Firefox browser and would like to make it work again.(In reply to comment #1) > Have you checked that your firewall is allowing Firefox to access the internet? Debi, please visit http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/ for information on the various support options available for Firefox. It is possible that your Firewall is not allowing the upgraded Firefox to access the internet because it thinks that the new version is a new program. I am going to close this bug as WORKSFORME, please feel free to take advantage of the other available support options.
