Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-GB; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-GB; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4

See STR. (Assumes Windows.)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In the location bar, type "C:" and press Enter. The contents of your C drive
root directory appear.
2. Immediately without hesitating, type the name of any of your directories.
Find As You Type should find the directory and select it.
3. If the bug hasn't already occurred, press Ctrl+Shift+R to reload the page and
immediately start typing the name of the same directory.
4. Repeat until the bug occurs. For me, the bug occurs at most after the third
pageload, but usually after the first already.

Actual Results:
Find As You Type does not find the directory name for approx. three seconds
after the pageload (behaves as if a link containing the typed-in text doesn't
exist). After this time-out, it suddenly starts working normally. Continuing to
type suddenly finds it although it didn't find it before. Pressing F3 exhibits
the same behaviour: doesn't work until the time-out, then suddenly works.

Expected Results:
Find As You Type should always work.

Of course, the above Steps To Reproduce are only an example. I get the bug for
any page that loads fast (although I admit that's mostly local files). It does
not only occur after a Reload, but also after following a link or anything else.
I can reproduce this.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511
Firefox/1.0.4
Associated Issue, I believe this is the same bug though.

Example: FF has an internet search page as it's home page. Load a new instance of FF and try to type into the search pages text input immediately (which has focus) - the find toolbar appears and ALL your text is entered there - the only resolution is to close FF and restart; reloading the page doesn't help. If you wait a few seconds after page load, this problem does not occur.

WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/2007051502 Firefox/2.0.0.4.

Reporter, can you confirm whether you still have this problem with the latest version of Firefox when using a new profile?

Jaruzel, I think you're seeing some variant of bug 320465.
Whiteboard: CLOSEME - 06/27
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a6pre) Gecko/20070610 Minefield/3.0a6pre

I can't seem to reproduce either. BUT, if I start typing fast enough after I reload, I can get into a state where typing or pressing F3 doesn't do anything (feels like a focus issue), but that's probably a separate bug.
No response from anyone who was seeing this before, and this WORKSFORME for both myself and Aaron.
