However, if I download the .swf file to your local disk, then try to drag it to Camino, Camino ignores it. Can't drag to the application icon; can't drag to the browser window. I can drag the file to Safari and it plays. Posted to Camino users list At 20:29 +0200 06/22/2005, Ludovic Hirlimann wrote: >File association is not correct. This looks like a bug, mind opening one? This works perfect for me. I can drag it in an open browser window or in the location bar (and the hit enter... auto load is another bug) and it plays fine. No, you can't drag it on the application icon, but is that a bad thing?

Summary: shcokwave file ignored when dragged to Camino applicatiion → shockwave file ignored when dragged to Camino applicatiion
When I was working with the Fx folks to improve their Info.plist, the logic they used for not also adding .swf was that you can't guarantee that all people will have the right plugins installed, so you shouldn't enable drag-and-drop of plugin-handled filetypes on the app icon. I think this is sound reasoning. Note that you can override this (in any app) by holding down cmd and opt while dragging the file, or, as Samuel mentioned, to the browser window or other parts of the UI that accept drag-and-drop (and by default already "download" file types Camino can't render). My feeling is that this is probably WONTFIX.

well, dragging to a browser widnow doesn't work for vicki, so something is weird here. i wonder if it's a panther v. tiger thing. perhaps?
Isn't Samuel on 10.4.x? I'm on 10.3.9. (Sorry, I missed the "can't drag to browser window" in Vicki's report)

Yes, I'm on 10.4, so that covers two OSes. Unless she's on 10.2, we shouldn't be having a problem. I *am* using the nightly from 6/17, however. So this could be a regression.

WFM on 0.9a1 build (20040602008) on Tiger. i could drag into the browser window and it started playing.
I belevie that you just can't drag a plugin object into a window that already has plgin content opened. For the rest everything works.
(In reply to comment #7) > I belevie that you just can't drag a plugin object into a window that already > has plgin content opened. For the rest everything works. This seems to be the case (if the window is exclusively plugin content--otherwise, it seems to be another "which region will accept a drag?" issue). Vicki, were you trying to drag the file into a window that already contained plugin content? If you open a fresh window and drag into that, does it work then?
