Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
If alt is pressed when typing a URL and then an auto-complete option is
selected, i can no longer type anything anywhere
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. start typing a URL that is in the history
2. press alt and then down arrow
3. Select an option in the auto-complete for the URL
Actual Results:
If i click on a text field (including address bar) the entry cursor does not
appear and i can't type anything until i restart
Expected Results:
Allowed me to enter text.
The workaround is to take the focus away from the browser window temporarily.

See this as well with a trunk build. Cursor disapperas, also no form elements on
the page can be focused. A restart fixed the issue.

Note that the file menu appears when you press alt. But the autocomplete is
still open.
Select an url with the mouse and you will see the bug
I can reproduce the effect described with Fx 1.0.4 on WinXP. I also noticed that
the Fx icon on the (windows) task bar becomes inactive after clicking on an item
in the autocomplete. when focus is returned all is fine. perhaps this is a
winblows bug?
Reproducible with Mozilla 1.8b1. Partly reproducible with Mozilla
1.8b2/20050613: the cursor and selection become invisible and autocomplete does
not pop up anymore but it is still possible to type in the addressbar and go to
a new URL. Deer Park a1 crashes when I try to go to a new URL. Related to bug

I was able to replicate this bug using Firefox on a Win XP Pro (Service Pack 2) system. Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060120 Firefox/1.5.0.1
I was able to identify that if you open a new window (ctrl-N), the cursor returns. But if you open a new tab, the cursor is still missing.
This is a bug worth noting because it gives the appearance of a more serious bug. On replication, at first I thought I was no longer able to type in the URL field since the cursor does not show up. The cursor also does not show up on the Google search. It appears like the browser is somewhat frozen when it isn’t. Also, the likelihood of someone typing a URL and then hitting alt to navigate though the menus is relatively high.
