Details
I just downloaded the glibc2.1-i686-talkback tarball from ftp.mozilla.org. So I try to install it with ./mozilla & It starts to work and I get to the Profile Manager. I click "Next" then go through the screens to choose a location for my home directory. I choose one and click "ok" - now the Mozilla windows disappear and my x-term has a segmentation fault. Below is a copy of what my x-term showed afterward. -------------------------------- [joelt@ubermonkey]:~/mozilla/package$ ./mozilla & [1] 13259 [joelt@ubermonkey]:~/mozilla/package$ .//run-mozilla.sh ./mozilla-bin MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/home/joelt/mozilla/package LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/joelt/mozilla/package SHLIB_PATH=/home/joelt/mozilla/package LIBPATH=/home/joelt/mozilla/package MOZ_PROGRAM=./mozilla-bin MOZ_TOOLKIT= moz_debug=0 moz_debugger= Profile Manager : Profile Wizard and Manager activites : Begin Profile Manager : Command Line Options : Begin Profile Manager : Command Line Options : End WEBSHELL+ = 1 WEBSHELL+ = 2 calling loadpage... startPage:: newProfile1_1 got a request Move window by 511.5,383.5 got a request WEBSHELL+ = 3 Gdk-WARNING **: Missing charsets in FontSet creation Gdk-WARNING **: ISO8859-1 user hit ok *** rootFolder = /home/joelt/mozilla/joelt/ .//run-mozilla.sh: line 29: 13264 Segmentation fault $prog ${1+"$@"}

hmm, are you sure you got the talk back build? usually it says something like "qfa services being registered" at the beginning of the output. could you try re-downloading and re-installing a talkback enabled m14 so that we can try to debug the output? thanks.

Yes, I made sure to download the talk-back build. But I've narrowed the bug down further: it only crashes when I'm in Profile Manager, creating a new profile, and changing the default folder. The segmentation fault occurs when I click OK on the "Choose Profile Directory" screen, whether I have changed the directory or not. I was eventually able to start mozilla correctly by not changing the default folder. In that case, I did see the "QFA services" message you describe.

Sorry - I see this bug has already been reported. I'm new to bugzilla so I didn't know how to search... This is the same as bug #27573. However, it's marked as fixed and I'm still having this problem.

thanks for doing all that legwork!!! i just read the comments to bug #27573. it looks like that fix didn't make it into the M14 builds, but is fixed on the tip. if you would like to verify, please download a recent nightly build. anyway, great detective work, hope you'll keep contributing to Mozilla. :) marking as a duplicate of 27573. if you can reproduce it with a recent nightly build, please reopen that bug, not this one. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 27573 ***
