Web search and location bar are next to each other. I've found an issue where
they behave differently but they could behave similar, thus improving user
experience.
In the location bar, Alt+Down is similar to clicking the dropdown button next to
it, it opens the history of user-entered locations.
The Web Search has a "drop-down" icon next to each search engine icon, when the
mouse is clicked on that, the user can select a search engine. (There is no
search history, but I think that is OK).
Now, I would expect that when the keyboard focus is in the search field (by
pressing Ctrl+K) and you press Alt+Down, the list of available search engines
opens. But currently nothing happens.
This is a pure enhancement request. I am aware that you can use the keyboard to
select a search engine already, by pressing Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down (see Bug
257426 and Bug 235131 and Bug 251760)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Press Ctrl+K
2. Press Alt+Down
Actual Results:
nothing
Expected Results:
search engine selection box could appear
theme used: default

Alt+Down/Alt+Up are currently used to select the saved searches in the search
bar. But, if you want to change this you could always use the keyconfig
extension: http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=254
-> WONTFIX ?

I'm adding a vote here.
I don't care what the shortcuts are, but I would like to be able to access the
search engine drop down list via keyboard.
Much easier and quicker to find the engine you are looking for - especially
since not all the search engine icons are that clear - than flipping through
them with Ctrl-up/down.
It's annoys me to be able Ctrl-K there, but then have to use the mouse to pull
down the drop down.

Ctrl up_arrow/down_arrow allow you to change between the search engines. (at
least on the current trunk version)
