each time i open thunderbird the same 2444 incoming emails and 1055 sent emails appear as new mail.

I have tried opening thurderbird when it is disconnected from the internet and the same thing happens. I have tried it at several locations (I am on a laptop) and the same problem occurs Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open thunrderbird 2. click inbox and sent mial and the "building inbox" and "building Sent" appear 3. This can take about 10 minutes to lead an delete

were these e-mails imported somehow? I suspect they're missing the x-mozilla-status line, where we store the read and deleted status of messages. Can you try deleting a message from each folder, and then doing a file | compact folders? When we compact, we add x-mozilla-status lines to each message, and from that point forward, you shouldn't lose the read/deleted state. But compaction only does something if it thinks one or more messages have been deleted.
