Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Type some text in a form (say, to reply to a forum post) and try to use the cursor keys to move around in the text Actual Results: Cursor does not respond to keypresses Expected Results: Cursor should move according to key presses and jump to beginning of line if up arrow is pressed when the cursor is on the topmost line and to the end if the cursor is on the bottom line and the down arrow is pressed.

Do you have javascript disabled? If so, this is a dupe of bug 296764.
(In reply to comment #0) > <..> and jump to beginning of line if up > arrow is pressed when the cursor is on the topmost line and to the end if the > cursor is on the bottom line and the down arrow is pressed. Related to bug 231754?
(In reply to comment #3) > Related to bug 231754? I actually reported that one also and it turned out that there are key equivalents to it that work on OS X. This one is different -- no cursor movement at all. I'm not a programmer, so I can't say if it's the same app code that causes the end effect, but the symptom is not the same.

NOT ALWAYS, but sometimes reproducible with FF 1.5.0.4, Windows XP SP2. These times I can't navigate with cursor keys neither in URL bar, nor in textareas. Even restarting does not always solve the problem. Refreshing page sometimes solves it. Very strange and very annoying.

I have this identical problem both at home and at work. I am running Windows XP SP2 at both places. As I am writing this bug report, I cannot use the cursor keys but have to use the mouse pointer instead. When Bugzilla is in this strange state. It seems to be a global state and appears on all open Firefox browsers until something happens, for example cutting/pasting a text into a text field. I am using a clean installation of Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7. Only addon is GBookmarks (both at home and at work). Another tip is that the problem may have occurred after been using docs.google.com. Wow, now as I pasted the User Agent text above, the bug disappeared for now.

I can't reproduce using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9a6pre) Gecko/20070701 Minefield/3.0a6pre ID:2007070104. Closing as WFM. Reporter, if you're still seeing this, please comment with details and reopen.
