Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
Thunderbird seems to have a similar problem to Firefox. I have filed a separate
bug report for Firefox for the same issue so please do not confuse one for the
other. Simply put, sometimes upon waking from an overnight standby, my laptop
will have all of its CPU resourses hogged by Thunderbird and those resources
can't be freed until Thunderbird is quit or force quit.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load Thunderbird.
2. Place laptop to sleep for 6 hours or more.
3. Resume from standby.
Actual Results:
100% CPU usage
Expected Results:
Normal CPU usage.
I have had this problem with both Firefox and Thunderbird for many months now, over many versions. It makes my laptop startup extremely slowly, and I have to kill either or both to make them stop using CPU. Others in the bug list are reporting this same problem, so it is unlikely to be a phantom problem. This only happens with Firefox and Thunderbird for my machine.
For what it is worth Process Explorer shows the thread thats in use on my machine at least is "nspr4.dll" ... in the past I've tried swapping in different versions of this .dll to no avail, but I've given up trying that and just go with whatever is installed with the most recent version. The problem persists.

I have also encountered this bug many times over the past several months. both with firefox 1.5.0.1 and with Thunderbird 1.0.7. I've just upgraded my thunderbird to 1.5 in hopes that it will be fixed but i didn't see anything posted here saying "resolved" so I figured I'd chime in. I'm running all this on a WindowsXP SP2 IBM thinkpad Laptop.
