User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 In the link to a playlist at http://69.1.135.85:8081/audio/29june2005/29june2005.m3u FireFox (& Mozilla) calls Windows Media Player (v10), BUT WMP claims it cannot open the file. Clicking the same link in Microsoft IE 6 calls WMP and it begins playing the .mp3s. Reproducable on 2 XP Home computers. Tried from 2 locations (one local network sitting next to the server, one from across town). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Go to http://69.1.135.85:8081/audio 2.Click the first link, which goes to http://69.1.135.85:8081/audio/29june2005/29june2005.m3u 3. See WMP start and then give error dialog box. Actual Results: Windows Media Player starts, then gives an error dialog box: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is on another computer, verify that you are connected to the network. If you typed a path, verify that it is correct. If the problem persists, the server might not be available." Expected Results: Play the playlist The file is a recording of an in-house lecture last wednesday, so it is not a copy protection issue. WMP claims it is a network problem. There is no proxie server: in one case the server is literally on the same hub/switch as the client. Server is running the current version of Apache. My gut feeling is that some parameter is not being passed correctly, such as the file name. I re-named all files involved and edited the playlist (text file) to remove all embedded blanks. Still no help.
I use Winamp to handle *.mru files (Content-Type audio/x-mpegurl send this server) and it works.

2005-07-02 21:34 EST (jdn) Info on plug-ins: I could not cut/paste the info from the dialog box, so I posted two screen cuts on my web. Check jdnash.org, the nav bar on the left, at the bottom. Bug-zilla-data-plugins-1 & 2. Both files are .PNGs so you can zoom. -john ------- Additional Comments From ostgote@gmx.net 2005-07-02 17:09 PDT ------- Could you please post the plugin info for this filetype from about:plugins?
This is a known bug in the NPAPI WMP plugin. IE uses a different WMP plugin (the ActiveX one, to be exact) than mozilla, which is why it works in IE.
