Right now, you only have the option to load an RSS article in an <iframe> with
the URL of the <link> specified in the article, or view the article's summary by
using the <description> tag. Wordpress (and possibly other CMSs) use
<description> as the article summary (which by default is the first 100 or so
words of an entry followed by "[...]") and <content> for the entire text of the
article. Thunderbird needs an option to "Show full article" without just loading
an <iframe>. It should recognize <content> as the full article summary, and then
revert to <description> if no <content> tags are specified.
