Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050616 Firefox/1.0.4
Build Identifier: version 1.0.5 (20050627)

When composing a message in Thunderbird (as of version 1.0.5 (20050627)), the
composition window no longer actively converts URLs to active links.

This changed fairly recently.

A configuration switch to turn this feature ON|OFF is likely a better solution,
if indeed this functionality was removed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a composer message ("Write")
2. Type or cut-and-paste a URL in the form of http://www.somesite.com
3. Press <SPACE> or <RETURN>, an the URL is not converted to an active link.

Actual Results:
URL was not converted to active link.

Expected Results:
Per recent behavior, the application should have converted that URL to an active
link, which would then be reflected as a mailto: in the HTML or Plaintext content.

No, it did not. They tell me that Netscape 4 used to do this, but it's been a
long time since that feature appeared in Mozilla, if it ever did.
