User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 When Windows shuts down, it first asks all running applications nicely to exit. When Firefox recieves this notification, it simply exits, making no attempt to save preferences to disk. This results in, e.g., lost home page settings, etc. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start firefox, and set the home page to a different site 2. Click Start -> Turn off the Computer -> Restart 3. Restart firefox after the reboot, the homepage will be unchanged from the last run. Actual Results: Preferences not saved. Expected Results: Preferences should be flushed to disk and reloaded on next invocation.

Works for me. Probably you have an account without writing permissions or you need to create a new profile. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=38

Maybe I should have been a little clearer in the steps to reproduce: 1) Start Firefox 2) Navigate to any website 3) Set the home page by dragging the page icon to the home icon 4) Reboot the computer 5) Restart firefox This is reproducable always, and there are similar preferences which are simply not saved.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 I was able to reproduce the problem. If you make any configuration changes, then shut down Windows without first closing the browser, the settings are lost.

This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here.
