Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 When logging on to a local intranet site that is located on a Microsoft SharePoint server, Firefox asks for login details to the server twice (the first time, it says: give username and password for http://infonet [the server's address on the intranet]; the second time, it says: give username and password for 192.19.4.17 [the proxy server on the intranet that is physically connected to the Internet]). In each case, entering the user name and password of the user already logged into the intranet via Windows Networking will allow the server to be accessed and go to its home page, so these prompts don't seem to be necessary. Also, it is interesting to note that clicking 'cancel' when presented with the user name/password requests makes Firefox load an error page that states access is denied. Another interesting point is that when loading the site in IE, there are no unnecessary user/password requests and the home page of the site loads immediately. I suspect this is due to the locking in of one MS product to another (SharePoint to IE). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: In Firefox, browse to a site on a local network that is on a Microsoft SharePoint server and you have sufficient permissions to access. Actual Results: (see details above) Expected Results: (see details above)

Does setting the preferences described in http://www.mozilla.org/projects/netlib/integrated-auth.html and http://www.kerio.com/manual/kwf/en/ch21s02.html help? e.g. network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris

This bug seems to be fixed in Firefox 1.0.5 (or have the administrators at http://infonet locked me out? - now it just asks for a password at http://infonet and denies access to the site).

The most interesting thing about the password prompts is that they say Enter user name and password for "" at <SharePoint server>. What is ""? Proxy? Caffeinated drink? Bill Gates?
