Thunderbird (TB) was working fine before a virus forced me to reinstall my pc.
When I reinstalled TB it prompted me for a password on incomming email but not
outgoing email. On my laptop I have tried everything to remedy a similar problem
where I think that the password is stored incorrectly on out going email. In
both cases I am finding only the ability to retrieve email and not send. Do you
have any suggestions? If so please send them to me at roesplin@yahoo.com
>Pleas note that this email is not the email account I am trying to use with TB

Seems to be a Thunderbird Question not a b.m.o. Issue

To my personal mail:
"I sent that last email here as Bugzilla seemed to be the only way to send
feed back. Where would I send an email for support on thunderbird issues?"

Rob, please Bugzilla for Comments and not my personal Email.

Bugzilla is not a Support Forum, maybe this link could help you
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cannot_send_mail#Outgoing_mail_settings
or the Mozillazine Forum http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=28

I also observe a very similar problem: Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 on XP SP2 does not ask for a password when trying to send a mail and was rejected. There is no entry in the password manager for thie SMTP server. The SMTP:4 protocol log during a failed try contains only the line 0[284720]: SMTP Connecting to mail.univie.ac.at

My account settings are (probably) correct. I even tried deinstalling Thunderbird, deleting the Prefs directory and reinstalling, and importing the working Outlook Express configuration. However, Thunderbird does not ask for an SMTP password.

A older Thunderbird installation on another computer (runnning windows 2000) connecting to the same smtp server with the same settings works.

Reporter, does the issue still occur with the latest supported 2.0.0.x / Shredder trunk nightlies?

(1.5.0.x is now end-of-life and the latest supported Thunderbird version 2 is 2.0.0.16)
