User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 I'm running Mozilla 1.78 on a 2.8 GHz machine with 512M RAM and Windows XP Pro. When I name an email file I'm saving, from the Mozilla default .eml, to .txt, and even change the "Save as type" to text file, Mozilla at times runs some of the text together. Here is an example of what happens from a "digest forum" email I get to show what I'm talking about. Example: =========================== Okay Woody, no fair holding out on us. Does anyone know why this is happening? It happens most of the time with emails, but never in the same place in the email. That is, it can happen in the beginning, the middle or the end or any other place. It can happen and then skip a number of lines and then do it again. I haven't notice it happen when I save newsgroup files as .txt files. I just downloaded a "digest" that had message 12, 13 and 25 messed up. All of the other 25 in the digest were just fine. Here is the header of that digest. Perhaps it will give someone a clue as to what is happening. Note the first part of the header is messed up, but since that is easy to fix, I do just that. So Mozilla is screwing up both the header and some of the messages when I save the "digest" as a .txt file. ================== Header of Digest: Subject: QRP-L Digest, Vol 14, Issue 47 From: qrp-l-request@mailman.qth.net Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2005 18:38:42 -0400 (EDT) To: qrp-l@mailman.qth.net Send QRP-L mailing list submissions to qrp-l@mailman.qth.net To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/qrp-l or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to qrp-l-request@mailman.qth.net You can reach the person managing the list at qrp-l-owner@mailman.qth.net When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of QRP-L digest..." =========== I left some messages on the server and then downloaded them on my old computer using Netscape 3.01. The digests came down perfectly. No messages running together in the same file as when using Mozilla. I read both files with the same text reader, so I can rule that out. Mozilla apparently doesn't like something. I did find something interesting. I looked at the downloaded "digest" I've been talking about, on the screen after downloading it with Mozilla, without saving it and it looked just fine. If I save it as a .txt file it gets messed up. If I save it as the default .eml file and *then* change the .eml to .txt and read it, it looks just fine. Neither the header or any of the messages are screwed up. There is something about saving it as a .txt file directly from Mozilla. Is this a bug and should it be reported to the developers? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Download "digest form" email 2.save as .txt file 3. Actual Results: Okay Woody, no fair holding out on us. Is there a setup box I have checked or unchecked that will fix the problem? Is this a bug in Mozilla? Thanks

I don't get any of this. My question was: Will Mozilla ever save text files as .txt files without munging them up? If I save them as .eml files and then change the extension to .txt, the files are text files. Why does Mozilla save text files as .eml files? .eml files are Outlook Express files. My digest files do the same as Hank Kohl's, so I save them as .eml files and then change the extension to .txt and everything is OK. Why do I have to go through this extra step? Your'e speaking to a Mozilla dummy, so please answer as such. Henry

(In reply to comment #3) > Your'e speaking to a Mozilla dummy, so please answer as such. OK. First of all: this isn't the place to ask questions; there are newsgroups and forums for that. Second: if someone marks your bug as a duplicate, don't reopen it unless you can demonstrate why it isn't -- which you don't seem to be able to do. The bug was marked a duplicate because the symptom you're describing is basically the same as the symptom at that other bug. The fact that there *is* another bug reporting the same thing should be taken as a "yes" answer to your question, "is this a bug?" *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 257828 ***
