RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 279018

People

(Reporter: ali, Assigned: mscott)

Details

I'm using Thunderbird 1.1a1/Win32.

If the adaptive junk mail detection feature is off, marking a message as Junk
does not move the message to Trash. It only sets the junk flag. It should move
it to the Trash folder (or the Junk folder if that's selected in the Junk mail
controls screen).

It works fine if the adaptive junk mail detection feature is switched on.
Related to/duplicate of bug 279018?
Might be, I'm not sure. The reporter of that bug mentions that nothing happens
at all. So presumably its not marked as Junk according to his report. Later
comments seem to hint at what's going on here in this bug, but I'm not quite
sure what bug that bug is reporting. It's very confusing (at least to me it is
unclear).
I agree that the duplication is not obvious, but bug 292038 is definitely the
same as this and it's been duplicated to that other bug as well, apparently based on bug 279018 comment 12.

I don't see this fixed. What exactly *is* your understanding of this bug?
I had adaptive filtering on; when I turned adaptive filtering off in trunk 20060521, a message manually marked as junk was still moved to the junk folder. Using trunk 20060510 and setting adaptive filtering off, a message manually marked as junk was not moved to the junk folder. Having turned adaptive filtering off in trunk 20060510, no amount of tweaking adaptive filtering and junk target folder settings in trunk 20060521 seemed to unbreak move on manual junk.

Looks like the new junk settings don't allow toggling adaptive filtering for the Local Folders "server"; if it's never been turned off, this wfm, and so I think it's not possible to run into this in a new profile. If adaptive filtering for Local Folders has been turned off in an earlier version, this bug occurs and can't be gotten rid of without poking the config editor.

oh, yeah, and that suggests it's probably still hittable in new profiles too on imap accounts and pop accounts not deferred to Local Folders :\ Sorry for the bugspam.
No longer depends on: 257990
