when viewing any webpage the browser freezes and i cannot browse normally. 
works for a while then for the same amount of time, it just stops.

Sounds more like network connectivity problem, versus a FF problem. Does MSIE do
the same thing or are you able to surf flawlessly using that?

I have Firefox 53.0.3 (32-bit) on Windows 7 (64-bit). I have the same problem, network connectivity is OK, because Chrome works fine.
