it would be easist to show the problem by cc'g you on a reply message of this
sort, then I'll also send you the identical reply message when generated using
IE (which handles the message appropriately, without html language in the text)

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. some reply messages - perhaps text only ones? - don't produce the problem
2. maybe replying to messages originally sent in html format are the ones that
have the problem?

Find a sample message which (when replied to) exhibits the problem, save it as 
a .EML file, and attach it to this bug (using the Create New Attachment link 
above).
