User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 I have three GMail accounts set up to be checked by Thunberbird 1.0.2. Thunderbird will always check one of the accounts, and download the new mail, and then look and act like it is checking the other two, without downloading any mail. If I click the "Check mail" button, it will give me this error: http://www.deezil.us/pictures/tbirderror.jpg multiple times for the two other accounts, and not check the mail for them, but will still allow me to access the mail on the first account that always seems to work. All GMail accounts are configured to have POP3 access, so that is not the problem. All accounts are being thrown into the Local Folders, with all of my other POP3 e-mail accounts. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set up several GMail accounts, all to be accessed by Thunderbird. 2. Run the check mail feature. Actual Results: The error described and pictured above. Expected Results: Downloaded all the e-mail from all three of the accounts.
I have two Gmail accounts set up in Thunderbird and they work just fine. Are you sure you have Gmail set-up correctly both on Gmail's web interface, and in Thunderbird?
(In reply to comment #1) > I have two Gmail accounts set up in Thunderbird and they work just fine. Are you > sure you have Gmail set-up correctly both on Gmail's web interface, and in > Thunderbird? I've checked all the settings multiple times. Do you have yours going to differnet mailboxes or into the generic "Local Folders" mailbox?
I have two Gmail accounts and exactly the same problem...
This works fine for me. What happens when you use the drop down part of the get new mail button to just get new mail for the account that doesn't work? Can you attach a log of such a session, by following these instructions for "protocol" = POP3 http://www.mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/mail-troubleshoot.html#imap
It's resolved. I didn't change anything but it finally worked, I can't explain how... I just waited. In fact I met someone who had had the same problem, and it also was resolved just by waiting. (I'm sorry for my bad English. Hope you understood...)
Thx for the update. I have a feeling all the weirdness is on the Google end, though I don't have a clue as to what could be going on. Marking wfm.

I still am having the problem. And, I upgraded to 1.0.5 in hopes that it might straighten itself out, but no such luck. I'll try to get the protocol report later, so that someone may be able to figure out what is wrong.

I have also problems with gmail pop and thunderbird (both 1.5 beta and 1.0.x). I have two gmail pop accounts. One to local folders and one in a separate account. The local folders gmail pop works fine. The other account always ask the password. It is never accepted. I get first this message: Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: Username and password not accepted. the second time: Sending of username did not succeed. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: malformed command. This bug is also described here: http://www.gmailforums.com/lofiversion/index.php/t10053.html
Added attachment with logging. Note that I changed the real gmail email addresses with: xxxxxxx@gmail.com (this one is not working) and aaaaaaa@gmail.com (this one works fine) using: Thunderbird version 1.5 Beta 1 (20050908) Note: Once, the account has worked correctly. I do not remember if I changed something that could be cause that the account now does not work any more.
I created a new profile, the problem still exists.
The problem disappeared. I did not change anything. So confirming comment #5.
this seems to happen sporadically with gmail, and only gmail, afaik. Marking wfm.
