For some window with a small vertikal black line instead of white background
appears, it looks like a misdrawing of a part of the right black image.

This page looks the same in Linux build 2000.03.09.13 and NS 4.7. Can you try a
recent build? Waht build where you using when you saw the bug? Can you attach
a screenshot?

Giving this to troy. Might be Windows only, still don't see this on Linux.

Ever confirmed: true
This problem looks familiar, and I think there may be an existing bug that is
similar.
It's a table issue, so changing component and reassigning

This bug has been marked "future" because we have determined that it is not
critical for netscape 6.0. If you feel this is an error, or if it blocks your
work in some way -- please attach your concern to the bug for reconsideration.

The problem is an overlap of several problems. <center> aligns the content
inside a table and not only the table. Behind this is a rounding problem, for
several window sizes (odd or even) the rounding increases the size of the table
so on the right side of the top row appears an extra pixel, as the background is
black, a black line will be drawn, when this place is not covered by the image.
I am not very happy about the future timeplan for this bug as this is a major
site (80% market share for visual programming in the laboratory), there will be
a plenty of people using N6.0 hitting the bug.

I've encountered this bug (on Linux) from some of the earliest milestones until
now --- with 2000082108, an M18 build. Particularly annoying is reading
Slashdot.org ... the black bars show up in several places: on the sides of the
topic images at top, and to the right of the main content (but to the left of
the right sidebar).
I too can't believe it's being put off for "Future".

Simplified testcase: http://clarence.de/tests/table-bg-2.html
Change window width to see the unwanted black line between 2nd and 3rd table
cell in about 50% of all cases (canvas shining through).
Seems to be a simple rounding error in calculating x-offset of the cell.
Seems very likly to occure on many sites. So this maybe shouldn't be futured,
although it is only a minor cosmetic problem.
Win NT 2000082313.
Somebody who is allowed to do it should add "in table" to summary to maximize
the chance to find this bug.
Bug 48441 seems to be a dupe of this.
Bug 45055 is related (rows instead of columns).

Changing summary slightly. In my opinion busters check in from 23.08.2000 fixed
the problem. Andreas could you try with a later build, for me the problem
changed as described.
Summary: horizontal displacement with black line → horizontal displacement with black line in table

Black line marked in attachment 6425 [details] is gone in http://www.ni.com/ with
2000083008, Win NT. But the bug still lives. See the white line above of the
former black line on this site. This seems to be caused by the same bug.
My testcase and attachment 12689 [details] of bug 48441 are still rendered wrong, too.
Note that this lines occure only with some window widths and you have to resize
your Mozilla window to see it.
Maybe the former black line now is white, but it shouldn't be present at all.
Bernd, can you tell me what check-in you are talking about (e.g. comment in
another bug)?
