Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050512 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: version 1.0 (20041208) Thunderbird appears to ignore IMAP login and mailbox referrals. My mail administrator recently moved my INBOX to a different server and the original server correctly responded to my login with this RFC2221 login referral: OK [REFERRAL imap://user;AUTH=*@new-server.example.com/] LOGIN completed. (The OK response is valid because there are still public folders available on the original server.) Thunderbird appeared to ignore the REFERRAL but complained apparently when trying to select a mailbox by popping up a dialog saying: The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: [REFERRAL imap://user;AUTH=*@new-server.example.com/*] The requested mailbox is not available on this server.. This implies that the server correctly sent a "NO" response and included the RFC2193 mailbox REFERRAL, which Thunderbird didn't understand and simply reported to me verbatim. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: Thunderbird ignored the login referral and complained about the mailbox referral(s). Expected Results: Transparently used the new IMAP server, possibly reporting to me that it had.
