User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: version 1.0.2 (20050317) The mail subject view window does not scroll up to reveal new messages that are sorted with the newest mail on the bottom (ascending? view) User must manually scrool window to reveal the new mail messages. All new messages are hidden until the user scrolls the window. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Select to sort by date with the newest messages on the bottom 2. 3. Actual Results: New mail was hidden until user scrolled window Expected Results: Software should automatically scroll the new messages received into view
(In reply to comment #1) > Duplicate of bug 250870 or bug 93856? No I don't think so. They are sorting their messages with the newest mail on top. I have my newest mail at the bottom. Here is an example: Subject: Date: Hi there 04/23/2005 Howdy 04/24/2005 Hiya 05/01/2005 Lets say that I only show the first three email subjects in the main window, any new messages would be placed after hiya (as they arrived after it) and I would have to scroll down to see them. The program should automatically scroll down to show them. I did a search to see if this bug was listed and didn't see one...but I have been known to look as well as my 3 year old nephew.

I think bug 93856 (which is against the suite) was seeking automatic scrolling at either end, altho it was originally reported for top-is-newest (descending). Bug 250870, explicitly for the descending case, claims that the desired behavior did exist (at least in TB) for top-is-newest but then disappeared at some point. This dupe, however, is for TB with ascending-by-date sorting. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 218935 ***
