For some reason, the nightly use the above URL as the start page instead of
welcome.html as they did before. Please update this URL to redirect to
caminobrowser.org/start
Needs to be fixed for 1.0, at least; targeting so it doesn't get lost.
Target Milestone: --- → Camino1.0
nothing changed with any of this stuff. I don't follow. welcome.html and the
cb.org start page serve different purposes, don't they?
Here's the deal. In the old days, there were three pages:

1. http://www.mozilla.org/projects/camino/index.html (used when people surf the
m.o hierarchy, and used in Camino by the bookmark in the Camino Info toolbar
folder and the Help menu, Camino Project Page item)

2. http://www.mozilla.org/projects/camino/welcome.html (used on first launch
only of a release version only)

3. http://www.mozilla.org/projects/camino/homepage.html (used as the default
homepage in all Caminos; overridden by 2 on first launch of a release version)

1 and 2 currently redirect, 1 to cb.o/ and 2 to cb.o/start/.

3 does not yet redirect anywhere, so you still get the old mozilla.org page if
you haven't customized your homepage or if you create a new profile.

I think that rather than continuing the index/homepage dichotomy (and one more
page to maintain), homepage.html should redirect to cb.o/ (which has a version
shout-out box); it's not a perfect match to homepage.html's content, though.
the problem is, i don't want the default homepage, the one that opens on every
single tab and window load for most people, redirect. god that would be slow.
K so why don't we just change it in our app files?
and when sam gets hit by a truck and that server goes away, what then? we need
urls baked into the client that will stand up forever.

Doesn't that get cached after the first time, though? I've never noticed any
delay for later visits to 1 and 2, even on dialup.

If not, we need some kind of new "timeless" content (and link to cb.o) on
homepage.html
I think we need to figure this out, too.

Redirect doesn't seem to be acceptable (it doesn't cache; I checked), so I think the best thing to do is to have homepage.html list the current version of Camino and then have a link to cb.o.
Flags: camino1.0?
Yes, this needs to block.

Jasper, can you work up a design for homepage.html (on m.o) that will link to cb.o? Something similar to the current design, but without the m.o header and the... ugliness. ;)
Flags: camino1.0? → camino1.0+
