300439 - signature is deleted when compacting folders

Every time I compact my mail folders the signature file of my accound is deleted.
Sounds weird, but I do mean that - The signature files becomes empty.

thunderbird 1.0.2, winxp sp2.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a signature
2. compact the folders
3. open the signature file - it is empty
Actual Results:  
the signature file is empty

Expected Results:  
keep the signature

did you put your signature file in your local mail directory?

and 
"The signature files becomes empty"
-- which of both statements is the correct one? Is the file still there but
empty? (It sound like this is the case, but I want to be sure)

The default folder of signature files should be changed at least,
until this problem is fixed.
