I have 2 accounts, each in a seperate folder structure (no global inbox).
When I start TB I see the start page. After viewing a mail in account A and
switch to account B I didn't see the startpage, but I also have no mail selected
in account B. I see a blank page.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open TB and focus is on account A (see start page)
2. view mail of account A (see mail)
3. click on inbox of account B (see start page)
4. click on inbox of account A (see mail as expected)
5. click on inbox of account B
Actual Results:
After step 5 I see a blank page.

Expected Results:
After step 5 I should see the start page, because no mail is selected in account B.
Thunderbird version 1.0+ (20050705)
Version: unspecified → Trunk
this is by design, afaik. That's why it's called the start page :-) it's show
when you start the app.

No, it's shown, when you first klick on an account :-)

But wouldn't it be useful to show the start page when you click the second time
on an acocunt instead of a blank page ?
David, this is a regression. In TB 1.0 I could change the folder as often as I
wish and TB shows me the start page every time until I select a message.
are you talking about the start page, or the account central page? The account
central page shows when a top-level account is selected, and appears where the
list of messages appears when a folder is selected. The start page appears where
the message contents are usually displayed.
I'm not talking about the account central page.

I click on the inbox an see the start page in the area, where the message
contents are usually displayed.

There is a different behavior between 1.0 and 1.0+ when I switched between two
inbox folders of two accounts.
I try to explain it a little bit more.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open TB and you see that the focus is on the inbox of account A
   (I see the start page)
2. Now I click in the list of messages of account A on a message and I view a
mail in the messagepane
3. click on inbox of account B and I see the start page in the messagepane
4. click on inbox of account A and I see the last selected e-mail (as expected)
5. click again on inbox of account B

Actual Results:
After step 5 I see a blank page and in TB 1.0 I see the start page again (until
I select a message for account B)
OK, I definitely understand now. This won't make you happy, but I would argue
that tb 1.0 had a bug that has been fixed on the trunk now - historically, in
mozilla mail, the start page is only shown on startup. It's up to Scott,
however, to decide which behaviour was the bug.
I love the new look of the start page ;-)
And I think it's better than a blank page.
David's right, it was a bug that the start page was loading as often as it was
in 1.0. Which we've since fixed and are consistent again with Mozilla Mail. Sorry!
