User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 When trying to enter special characters in a text or textarea input form field where a keyboard combination (OPT-N), release of combination, then tapping a second key (N) is required (example: opt-n, then n again for n with a ~ over it), the characters will not appear. This is a critical hindrance for any non-English language. I can however type the characters in a text editor, then copy and paste them into the form field, like so: ñ é î ü Umlauts, carets, accents and tildes cannot be typed. I can type these characters into the same forms using Safari. Can anyone suggest a reason for the difference in behavior between FF and Safari? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Visit https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ 2. Try to enter special characters in a text or textarea input form field where a keyboard combination (OPT-N), release of combination, then tapping a second key (N) is required (example: opt-n, then n again for n with a ~ over it), the characters will not appear. 3. Next try copy and paste these characters into the field: ñ é î ü Actual Results: For 2, nothing. For 3, ñ é î ü appeared. Expected Results: For both 2 and 3, ñ é î ü should appear.

Could you test this on one of the most recent builds with a new profile? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/

(In reply to comment #1) > Could you test this on one of the most recent builds with a new profile? > http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ I installed the latest build of Deerpark. I did not use a new profile. I was able to enter diacritics in a text and textarea field: ñ î ü é Will this bugfix make it into the next FF release? Thank you!

If so please resolve Works For Me. This will then be fixed in firefox 1.1 when it is released (Deer Park buillds are alpha versions of firefox 1.1)

Also after upgrading to FF 1.0.5, the issue has been resolved.

Product: Firefox → Toolkit
I think this bug just had a revival on Firefox for Android. Exactly the same misbehaviour, but only on mobile. Should I file a new bug?
