User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Thunderbird 1.0.2 20050317 TB 1.0.2 was installed after doing "remove program" on 1.0.0. Data files still there. All mail files were in C:\Thunderbird\e-mail. New install built new files rather then use old ones - except sent mail. Using browse to assign old data to new program got message "This directory in use by another server. Select another directory" I have e-Mail coming in, but where it's going I have no idea - I can't see it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install 1.0.0, install e-Mail files in C:\Thunderbird\e-Mail rather then in default location. 2.Use e-Mail for 4 months or so. 3.Delete program with "Remove Software" function of Windows Control Panel 4.Install 1.0.2; use it. Actual Results: Incoming e-Mail gets lost Outgoing e-Mail goes out fine and shows up in Sent Mail Expected Results: Incoming e-Mail should not get lost. I gather this is not a common bug as it is not in your files. But I apparently have days of e-mail that has gone lost. While I wait for feedback I'm going to continue trying to find the e-Mail
Are the mailboxes located outside of your profile? If yes, is the location preference pointing to the correct mailbox folder?

My trouble started by Thunderbird suddenly not starting, after I downloaded some mozilla update that was recommended. It might have been the latest Thunderbird, not sure. I usually just click ok for these auto updates and do not pay much attention to them, After trying to start Thunderbird the screen message was: The procedure entry point JS_DHashTableOperate could not be located in the dynamic link library js3250.dll It was recommended that I download RegCure to fix To download and install RegCure: * Go to http://www.regcure.com/download * Click the Run button * Click Next in the setup wizard * Review the license agreement and click I Agree * Click Install to accept the default location of the RegCure destination folder * Click Finish I ran RegCure several times until all errors found was down to a count of 3. Then started Thunderbird. Message displayed was: Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\mozMapi32.dll click retry to try again or Cancel to stop the installation Since this did not cure the problem so I thought I would load the latest Thunderbird 2.0.0.6. Trying to load this version now gives: Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\mozMapi32.dll click retry to try again or Cancel to stop the installation. Then I did a System Restore to back before the trouble started. Windows piped up that I had run into something it understood and would fix. After running a few Windows updates Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 now starts but has none of my previous mail, address book, etc. Also, it is no longer my default mail program. That is where I am. And I must say the sequence is my best recollection. These updates are normally routine so I don't pay much attention to what I am doing.
Richard, can you have a look at the profiles.ini for your Thunderbird installation? It's located under appdata/thunderbird. Is the referenced profile the correct one or was this file overwritten which shouldn't happen. Adjusting the path information to the correct profile path should bring back all your profile data. Do you use a profile location which is different than the default one?
Latest situation report: First, I have done essentially nothing more to try to resolve this, and did ot make any custom changes to the standard installation (to my knowledge). Thunderbird now starts okay as my default browser and I have my address book, but no mail. Searched entire C drive, including hidden files but no hits on appdata but I did get into C:\Documents and Settings\richard\Applications Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\yvy8ifi8.default\Mail\ and under Mail there are three folders: Local Folders, Local Folders-1, pop.telus.net My mail seems to be in the two Local Folders. I could not find a profiles.ini file but under \Thunderbird, with the Profiles folder is a file called Profiles that contains [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 [Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/yvy8ifi8.default Default=1 What now?
Richard, I'm sorry for the delay but the mail from your last comment get lost. Do you still have this problem?

(In reply to comment #5) > Richard, I'm sorry for the delay but the mail from your last comment get lost. > Do you still have this problem? > No response to this comment (4 months ago), also original reporter never responded. Therefore I'm closing this as incomplete. Richard, if you are still having problems with the latest version, please see http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/2.0.0.14/releasenotes/#links for more support information.
