Just after updating I ran into this problem. Firefox Middle Click tabbed
browsing doesn’t appear to be working completely. Once I updated from a complete
install middle click over image based links such as those found on
http://www.deviantart.com middle click appeared to be broken how ever while
sniffing threw the submitted bug tickets here on Bugzillia I middle clicked out
of habit and got a tab.

After inspecting the source code for the page I was browsing on the image link
is in a page heavy with div and span tags and CSS styles. I can’t think of a
reason why the links on Deviantart would be special as to the Bugzilla site.

The problem seems to only be with links that use images as the link, text links
on other pages (such as hotmail or yahoo work fine)

This problem popped up when I installed v5, on the pervious release it worked
fine with no trouble. I’ve re-stared FireFox several times and even went as far
to update my mouse drivers (the last ticket I submitted someone recommended I
update them) and it still happens.

This problem is removing the continuity from my browsing so I hope I can get
this straightened out as soon as possible.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.click an image link
2.fail
3.click a text link
4.sucess
Some bugs are already opened for same situation, and some of them are already
resolved by newest extention.

What extentions do you have?
What happens when new profile? How about "Safe Mode" of Firefox?
Will newest version of extentions resolve the problem?
I have the fallowing extensions installed (listed as they apear in the extension
viewer)

DOM Inspector 1.0
Web Developer 0.9.3
IE View 1.2.4
Single Window 1.4
Image Zoom 0.1.7.1
Greasemonkey 0.3.3
eWebMail Color and Graphics 2.14
FoxyTunes 1.1.1

I tried making a new profile and running in safe mode and firefox operated
completely normal so the extensions are more than likely the colpreate. I've
been pretty good on keeping my extensions up to date but i checked again and
updates on them didnt fix it.

do you know of a way to remove the extensions sequensualy so we can find out
which one (if not multiple) is causeing this?

sorry about the redundent bug ticket, i didnt find one that seemed to discribe
my problem.
"Single Window" extension is the guilty one. From author's page:
http://www.spuler.us/extensions/singlewindow.htm

Firefox 1.0.5
With the release of Firefox 1.0.5, Single Window conflicts with the middle-click
behavior that normally opens the link in a new tab. I am aware of this problem
and will be looking in to how to fix it this week. Thank you for your patience.

I can confirm that uninstalling "single window" fixes the problem.
cool, that did it. works just fine now. Thanks alot!

Since this bug is not Firefox's fault currently, FIXED is not appropriate.
=> REOPEN then close as INVALID.
However, some API changes or some internal changes may be the cause of many
extention related problems after Firefox 1.0.5.
Reporter, please change status if the cause will be found to be Firefox's fault.

I don't have Single Window installed, and this is happening for me in 1.0.5.

My extensions:

(a disabled) PrefButtons
Location Navigator
Download Sort
Toolbar Enhancements
Flashblock
downTHEMall!
I tried in -safe-mode, and there the bug doesn't happen.

So one of my extensions also trigger this bug.
Also, change from Software Update to Tabbed Browser.
Awfully sorry about the spam.

In my case, it was Download Sort that caused middle click on images not working
in my case.

There's updated version (1.4.1) of "single window" available. It fixes the
incompability.
