Filters are only triggered when *all* or *any* rules meet.
If you want to create a filter when the sender is "A" and the subject is : "x"
or "y" or "z" you need 3 filters. There should be a way to have only 1 filter.

Subset rules could resolve this problem : for each rules you could add specials
conditions to be meet. See example below.

Sender is "A" subset rules : "match any of the following"
  subject is "X"
  subject is "Y"
  subject is "Z"
end of subset rules
