User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511
Mozilla cant use newly created mail/news account
If the user dosn`t Have permissions to write inside
C:\Documents and Settings Home folder.
I use all programs and they all store their data in
D:\Documents and settings, And there are Registry keys that point to
D:\Documents and settings directory.
If you Allow the user to write to C:\Documents and settings, than Acoount setup
works.
If you later Put mail/news box files on other location and change pah manually
in mozilla, it works later from that new path.
Conclusion: Mozilla Add new account wizard should look location for "Documents
and settings" folder, in the system registry and not assume that
it is Always inside "C:\Documents and settings"
I don`t even have "C:\Documents and settings" directory!
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Set your Windows 2K/XP machine to have Documents and settings directory
on the other place then "C:\Documents and settings".
It can be done by Editing System registry and copying User account files
to new location, upon new installation (Before users are created).
So, you have D:\Documents and settings but NOT C:\Documents and setting dir.
2.Install Mozilla
3.Log on the Windows As USER
4.Try to make new Mail/News account
5.Wizard Can`t write to C:\Documents and settings and cant write do disk.
6.You end up with account that doesn work and doesn`t refresh its server info.
Actual Results:
Noone with User level Access right on Windows machine
cant add new mail or news account, E.G.
Noone on that machine can Use mozilla mail or the news,
Beacouse Acoount wizard assumes its directory must be under C:\Documents And
Settings, which is not.
Expected Results:
New Account Wizard should look into the REGISTRY and find where User home
directoris are.
Not assuing that they all are in C:\Docuuments and settings.
They Could Be on directories like this: D:\Documents and settings, E:\Users,
G:\User files etc.
The problem is inside Account wizard only.
It can be solved with Wizard looking in the system registry, not
only at the defauls OS location for Documents and settings.
The rest of mozilla wirks fine after you add user rights to Defaul Directory,
make account(s) , copy their files to the new location, change path i mozilla,
delete c:\documents and settins and restrat mozilla.
But for this you need to have administrator rights wich User under Windows dont
have, and cant create ANY acoount if Acoounts are NOT in the default location.
