User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 when I downloaded the updates this morning in firefox mozilla I got the following error when installing saferfox expanded 2.3.13.1.0, install-6zg.rdf provide by the item is malformed Reproducible: Always Expected Results: I don't know if the update did update with this error I'm not sure about the severity of this problem but it looks like its in the security so I chose the major ..hope I did this right ...first time reporting
This is not a problem with Firefox, but a problem with the extension. The extension owner provides a URL to look for updates for extensions. This URL should contain a file explaining whether or not there is an update for this extension. What's happened here is that the file at that URL is malformed or "not right". This is probably INVALID.
I think that error is caused when the install.rdf file in the extension is invalid. I know firefox's rdf parser changed at some point between branch and trunk to be more strict. Either way I'd say yes this is invalid. It's up to the extenaion author to make his extension work.
