User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Windows XP/TB 1.0.2 This must be a duplicate but I couldn't find any other bug, maybe because the terms where too generic? When I receive mails that refers to files on our intranet they are typically displayed blue and underlined like this: file:///\\some\urlto\alocalfile however, clicking them does nothing and if I copy link location the links looks like this: file:///%5C%5Csome%5Curlto%5Calocalfile Pasting this link into Windows Explorer does not work. Reproducible: Always Expected Results: Whatever is set to handle file-urls should open the clicked URL, either a file or a directory.

file: URLs are disabled in Thunderbird by design, for security reasons. See bug 135830. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 135830 ***
