Can you list any extensions you have installed or try it in safe mode or with a new profile? I have a feeling that this is caused by an adblocking extension.

Thanks!! I looked around and saw in the html something about javascript. Although there was no message about this on my screen, I went to the Mozilla preferences. Under Advanced/ Scripts & Plug-ins I had already checked Enable Javacript for Navigator. But "Allow scripts to:" were all (??) off. I turned them on. Now it works!! Problem identified. What is the minimal set? I turned off all of these: Move or resize existing windows Raise or lower windows Hide the status bar Change status bar text Disable or replace context menus and turned on this: Change images IT WORKS! Problem solved. You need to have in preferences Advanced, Scripts & Plug-ins, that JavaScript can Change images. Thanks for nudging me in the right direction! This bug will help the next person who comes along, so it was not a waste of time ...
