When right-clicking on several links and choosing "Download as...", then
choosing the destination directories, two download managers open.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing the same problem in recent builds - you may have better success pursuing one of the support options at http://www.mozilla.org/support/ or trying the diagnostic steps at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_(Firefox)
