I had instlled a plugin that had thrown a load of javascript into one of the config files in the FF directory, the javascript contained bugs and it made FF crash when downloading anything. I think the plugin started with X and provided an HTML editor inside text boxes. The only way I could fix it is by removing the offending script from the config file. Unfortunately I cannot remember the exact detailsof the file of plugin. Hope this helps! Sean
