Log-in to www.hotmail.com 2. Open an existing "HTML" or "RTF" format mail 3. Select Forward from the menu bar 4. If you have RTF / Text as the default format in sending mails out, then the existing mail text that is being forwarded is displayed as junk. All formating characters of the format are visible and not decoded correctly. Also if the default mail sending out format is RTF, then the RTF tolbar is also not visible. 5. Same works OK in Netscape 8.0 and IE 6 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log-in to www.hotmail.com 2. Open an existing "HTML" or "RTF" format mail 3. Select Forward from the menu bar 4. If you have RTF / Text as the default format in sending mails out, then the existing mail text that is being forwarded is displayed as junk. All formating characters of the format are visible and not decoded correctly. Also if the default mail sending out format is RTF, then the RTF tolbar is also not visible. 5. Same works OK in Netscape 8.0 and IE 6 Actual Results: Sent mail is unreadable and garbage Expected Results: Text format should be decoded correctly and not converted to junk.

This is the same problem as bug 298591 which was wrongly duped to the rtf editor bug. I have an example email from a user that illustrates the issue. It looks like the original message was text/plain and it was forwarded in-line in hotmail which had Content-Type: text/html; format=flowed This may just be an evangelism bug on hotmail.

Ok, I can reproduce this now. You need to use IE in hotmail to go to Options Mail, customise your signature and enable Rich Text Editing and add an html signature such as <bold>your name</bold>. Then use Firefox to send and forward mail. I'll attach the series of messages.
