1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Display > Fonts tab. 2. Close the Preferences window. 3. Open it back up. The two dropdown lists for character encodings will not open when you click them making it impossible to select a different character encoding. Thunderbird must be restared to fix this.

We still need a padding on the right side. But how can we get the correct one? Different skins/themes on OS level have a different width for the dropdown marker. How do other applications handle this? Which value they use?

I didn't really know which right margin we'll need. So I checked with different OS themes on KDE and think that 25px should be enough. With that margin we have a small empty area between the label and dropmarker.

I don't think we need these CSS patches. Once we get a good fix for Bug 285076 this problem will go away.

Adam this bug is NOT fixed! Using a CVS and the latest nightly build of Thunderbird [version 1.5 Beta 1 (20050903)] still shows this issue at 'Composition|Adressing'. When I resize the preferences dialog "Collected Addresses" is still drawn above the menulist dropdown. The fix for bug 285076 shows no difference here.

Henrik, did you mean to comment in bug 301854? The issue of the character encoding dropdown in "Display | Fonts" is fixed for me (which is the only issue addressed in this bug).

Ok, after talking on IRC we can mark this bug as fixed. Opening the dropdown works fine and that was the real issue on that bug.
